Here are some instructions:
Washing – If you have just started going shampoo free and are feeling your hair is excessively dry or oily, please don’t freak out! Your scalp is going through an adjustment period. Depending on what you’ve been washing your hair with before and your “hair genetics” this adjustment period can vary from 1 wash to 1 month of washes. Shampoos/conditioners with silicones and other plastics in them leave a coating on the hair that will need to be removed before natural shampoo (bar soap) will work. Washing technique, you can either be ‘hand lather’ and apply the foam to the scalp, or rub the bar directly into the scalp, making sure to cover the entire scalp. It is not necessary to ‘wash’ the ends of longer hair, as these will be cleaned when you rinse. Excessive scrubbing of the bars on the lengths of the hair can lead to knotting. Make sure you wash soap residue completely from your hair as this can also contribute to the weird gummy feeling.

Rinsing – After washing your hair, it is best to clarify your hair and scalp with Pintu herbal hair rinse. You squirt the rinse onto wet hair, massage into hair and scalp and pay attention to the ends and let it sit for a couple of minutes. You can choose to rinse off (with warm water) or leave the rinse on your hair. Leaving the herbal rinse on your hair helps prevent tangles in long hair. Since the rinse has apple cider vinegar, this restores natural pH and prevents an itchy scalp. While your hair is drying, you will smell vinegar, but once it dries there is no smell.

Brushing – To manage the oils on your head, a good tip is to brush your hair either with a boar-bristle-brush or a wooden hair brush. These natural bristles are porous and will soak up hair oils, allowing you to pick up the oils at your roots, and distribute them down to the ends of your hair with each brush stroke. Brushing with these brushes will also make your roots look softer and less oily and you are using your natural, hydrating oils to nourish the ends of your hair which are the BEST at conditioning your hair!

If you are already doing all these and are now enjoying a normalized scalp – woohoo! Well done, we would recommend you do a thorough no-poo hair wash once every 7-10 days. If you exercise or get sweaty during the week, you can rinse your hair with cool water with little to no scrubbing, just to rinse away dirt and sweat (but not oils) between your weekly no poo washes.

I met Jeff at the Kirribilli Markerts, we spoke for a bit, I was not planning on buying anything as I was just tagging along with a few family members and I usually just surf and that take cares of most issues, but his products are amazing, and his knowledge in this field is top. I really recommend this hair rinse for those who surf or don’t use commercial shampoos. It will keep your hair healthy and you’ll have amazing results from just one application.
